Definitely a sign of the times. No one under the age of "older than dirt" buys vinyl, cds, dvds, etc. Why would they? You can stream everything on paid services and a lot on free. Bluetooth speakers have great sound and quality. No need for all the equipment to play the "old style" formats, just use your phone and bluetooth speaker.

I still have my hundreds of vinyl records and thousands of CDs, but lately, I do tend to stream more than anything else. Thankfully, most of the new bands I follow are on Bandcamp, so that is a great way to enjoy them on the Bluetooth speaker.

More than anything though, is the realization that I still listen to music daily, but so differently. When I was a teen, I figured I would have a room full of records that I'd have to carry with me everywhere I moved. The reality is that for all but a small percentage, I can listen to them all off my phone. Never would I ever have considered that.

Walmart is more likely to be buying from major labels, and we indie musicians just aren’t big enough to be on their radar. Walmart has over 10,000 locations worldwide. If each store had only one album from a given band, that’s over 10,000 units, and an obscene amount of money just to print albums. Only the major labels can afford that.

There is a record store in Center Harbor called Old's Cool Records (where the quilt store used to be). I think it is still there. Last year I had to go there to buy a Taylor Swift record on VINYL for one of our granddaughters who insisted on vinyl!!. He has quite a selection of old and new vinyl. Say the name of the store out loud and it will sound like a description of the store, by the way.

There are several other vinyl stores here in Laconia and the area.

I was in Tractor Supply the other day. I came across country vinyl. I glanced at the price. $45!!! Should have investigated further.

Vinyl is good but I'll never give up my cd collection. There's a gigantic amount of information in those liner notes that come with a cd. Don't think you get that with a digital copy?
