This must be so frustrating. I myself don't drink, and as an observer, I feel it tends to cause problems. In this instance, it seems like it would cause lost business.

My guess is they calculate that the cost of drinks will make up for lost revenue on tickets :(

You're probably right, and it probably does. Alcohol is a money maker, sadly. Even Canobie Lake Park serves it in designated areas, and it causes problems, especially during the Halloween celebration. Unfortunately, I think it's such a significant source of revenue that they won't stop selling it, even though the park is technically a family attraction.

It's definitely a Liability issue for those venues that are 21+, but the bands booking agents are a factor too.

The biggest thing that is messing with Uma's access, is Alcohol sales. The booking agents know ahead of time about the venues age rules. Sometimes they have no choice if they really need to play a certain area, and take what's available on the circuit list. Summer festivals, fairs, and outdoor venues seem to always be all ages. Might want to give concert going time a "Season", and plan around it.

Bigger venues don’t seem to care either, but like that 300-600 spot is pretty bad. I’ve also had no issues with the city of Boston but outside of that Mass. sucks.

Well, like you said, they might have previous altercations and can't take a chance with mixing booze sales and minors. That's the Liability issue. Bigger venues have bigger staff, strict rules, and more to lose if they get caught up in an infraction. Not saying it doesn't happen, just the odds are lower.

You could always move to Nashville. 20 shows a night just on Broadway St year round, and 3 major concert venues within a mile. 🤣

There used to be a hardcore band in Vancouver called Sparkmarker that insisted on only playing all ages shows. 500wattburneratseven is a fantastic album by them.
