My granddaughter (age 7) started playing the flute, Cello (they have orchestra at school) and piano this year. She decided that the flute wasn’t for her (although her mom and aunts played it all the way through HS). I have noticed there has been less and less practice with the cello too. HOWEVER she is loving the piano! She is playing chords and even “experimenting” playing songs on her own! Uma will figure it out! She is lucky to have you to expose her to different types of music/instruments!
I’ve been listening to Vivaldi & Bach weekly during a client’s 90 minute massage appointment weekly for 5 years. Classical & Baroque not really MY Thing but it’s grown on me, especially many of the bright, energetic pieces by Vivaldi. And my 98-year-old Client knows a lot of interesting facts about both musicians. A really great learning experience for me.
My dear friend, soooo glad Bean enjoyed our present! And, a WHOLE 15 MINUTES! That is certainly an eternity for a 9 yo. And please let Uma know that when I first heard them I liked the faster parts better too. It took me a while before I could listen all the way through without squirming a little bit. 😅
And yes, Piffaro concerts are very much Renaissance Rock 'n Roll 🎸
I think learning piano early on is a huge help in reading music...G clef for sure. My aunt taught me piano when I was 12 so when I picked up the trumpet I could read music and concentrated on the instrument.
No, haven't for years. It's an instrument you just don't pick up after a long absence. The "lip" as they say has to be strengthened as well as the jaw muscles and that takes a long time.
Good luck to Little Bean with her piano lessons! I love that you expose her to all kinds of music, even those that aren't your favorites.
I'll let you know how it goes, maybe she can teach me as well!

We'll see which way it goes! Her teacher is her music teacher from school who she loves so that's going to be an advantage!

Uma says don't worry, if The Warning get anywhere near Philly we're coming down there to headbang!

Nice. Do you still play?

It's a deal! 🎸🤘🤘
