I love hearing about your adventures with Uma, and I look forward to hearing all about your trip together. My first concert was in college, about 1971 or 72. John (or Jon?) Sebastian at Fitchburg State. There is nothing like a live show.
Sounds like a wonderful tour and I will be following. First live show Johnny Cash, second Peter, Paul and Mary, third show, The Kinks (I was in Middle School) fourth show Judy Collins (high school) ... I am sooooooo old.
A heartfelt column about music Dan and I can identify. At the risk of dating myself my first big show was the Newport Jazz Festival, around 1970. I was there because of one artist: drummer Buddy Rich. In my early 20's and that was the first time I spontaneously jumped out of my seat and applauded, shouting. The band had played a jazzed up version of Paul Simon's "Keep the customer satisfied". Buddy did a 15 minute solo...I will never forget it. From that day forward I was hooked on live performances...and I still come out of my seat once in a while!!
I'm looking forward to your reflection on Donny Osmond tomorrow! My mom introduced me to his music via a video of the stage show "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Nice way to start! That was before his big hit "Welcome Back"

Oh my gosh, what I'd do to see any of them! You started with Johnny Cash, holy cow!

Oh Buddy Rich, how I'd have loved to see him. I did get to see a 15 minute drum solo by Max Roach in Philly which was a stunner!

Glad to see there's some other Donnie Osmond fans out there!
I'm excited for your daughter. These are such precious memories you are making for her.
It will certainly be an interesting week!
