I grew up watching musicals (Disney Renaissance and Hollywood Golden Age, mostly), and my mom often played cassettes of Broadway shows on drives to and from ballet class. So, I have always gravitated towards show tunes and ballads. When I was in college, Josh Groban was one of my favorites. His songs were comforting, and sometimes inspiring, distractions.
Led Zep 2 did it for me. I always enjoyed music and that album (what were those?) took me to another place. Mostly looking back I think it was Bonham's heavy playing, I had never heard anything like it.
Music is so personal and emotional. It can make you happy, calm, melancholy, and even sad. It can make you get up and dance or sit and remember. When I was very young violin music used to bring tears and I do not know why. Previous life? Rush and Styx - two bands that never got the attention they deserved.
Bridge Over Troubled Water helped me heal after losing my mom to mental illness when I was 9
Neil Young's "Don't Let It Bring Your Down", helped me through some rough times.
Oddly Loggins and Messina House at Pooh corner. I played before every major nursing exam.
Fleetwood Mac Landslide

Cavages Records and Tape, at the Como Mall...priceless!
Yes! I was trying to remember the name of the place! They had a raise up section like a stage where all the new titles were!
