This reminds me of when my daughter played Rec League softball. Her team lost every single game--but she loved it!

This reminds me of a funny and cringe-worthy episode of the TV show "Everybody Loves Raymond," in which the title character is one of those parents who takes youth sports (basketball) too seriously. His twin sons are on a team; one is a decent player, the other isn't. His comments and how they change over the course of the episode (and how the other characters react--everyone has moved to either end of the bleachers so there's several feet of empty space all around him by the end!) is a bit overplayed, but still relatable.

Sounds like these kids have a great outlook on the game. And I’m still cracking up over your comment about the number of Saturdays that are ahead of you!

...and so it begins! At my grandson's varsity high school game yesterday. He works really hard to be average, a few minutes played in the game (a sophomore so not surprised). Your daughter's first game brought back memories of my grandson's first at about the same age. Enjoy it all, goes by so quick.

I'm glad Little Bean and her team are so happy, win or lose, they are out there having fun.

I know your ref was lenient, but your story today reminded me of a time I was sitting in a ski lodge near our home waiting for my husband to finish his runs, and wound up sitting with a skier who was a youth baseball ref during the summers. He told me he had written a small book regarding the parents' interactions with the refs. (NOT good interactions!) This is the book and I don't necessarily recommend that you buy it, as it is not that well written or edited; but it explains everything that is wrong with the parents criticizing the refs and their calls. I imagine it is the same in any sport.
