I used to do this with my boys when they were younger, at least 2x a month. So glad I did. Theu both love to read to this day.

People like to say it's a different world than when I was growing up, but parents are still the same. I never realized my mother would call my grandparents to let them know I was headed their way when I would take off (they lived less than a mile away) until I was an adult. I did the same when my son was growing up, I knew (usually) which friend's house he was headed to. The one time he was late and I couldn't find him, well.....let's just say he only did it once. :)

How crazy is it that I can remember when we were pre-teens (or maybe just-teens) walking off to the local gas station/dairy store where we'd spend 50 cents to play Defender for hours (I'd watch while watching you play with our friend Dave)? And now you're allowing Bean to begin her journey from teenager to (gulp) adulthood??

Man, the world is a crazy place to be sentient in.
