I went to Catholic school for K through high school (in the Hudson Valley, NY) and we definitely had Scholastic book orders. My parents were frugal but they allowed us to pick out books because education was their priority. I remember poring over the catalog and making crucial choices based on the blurbs and cover art. And unlike the almost instant gratification of amazon, the weeks it took for the books to arrive made them that much more exciting. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I'm a few days behind on your posts but, my goodness! You are truly raising a wonderful little human being! As a parent, I get your fear that generosity can be met with being taken advantage of, but that's a lesson she has to learn on her own. I'd much rather my child be kind and generous than cynical and selfish. Well done, Uma!
