We sit on the bed right next to the window and watch the drizzle turn to rain turn to a white foggy wash of water.
We are safe on the 14th floor, looking straight into to twists of Helena as she cleanses Atlanta. Earlier, we walked down to the venue where The Warning will play and then we dodged the growing puddles to bring back pizza and salad and Spite, and now we sit and eat and watch.
Later, we’ll meet up with other fans of the band at a local steak house, that is if all we’ll need is an Uber and not an Ark.
The hotel AC is a little wonky and we’re both beat and soggy. But earlier, Little Bean got to ride a terminal train (they call it a Plane Train) and took the amazing picture I’m posting today. And in the lobby we found band fans and she handed them buttons, making friends wherever we go.
It’s not all perfect. Some of it’s expensive and my knee is sore and her allergies are bugging her.
But it’s the road and the road is never perfect. What IS perfect is a slice of cheese pizza in a tall building in a comfortable (mostly) room while the swirl of a hurricane knocks on your window.
My daughter and I, with music in our hearts - expectations abound. Let it rain.
Update note: Hi gang, I’m adding this edit on Friday morning. While the storm hit Atlanta overnight and there is pretty severe flooding in metro Atlanta as I write this, we are fine and still safely tucked in on the 14th floor. We even had a breakfast of sausage and eggs this morning! Whether or not the show will take place tonight is unclear, but either way, we’re good, Little Bean is happy and this is certainly becoming an adventure for the memory books!
So sorry the show is cancelled, but glad you are both safe! Helena is a dangerous storm!
Maybe you can reach out to the Warning and see hwere they are and possibly get together? Just a thought.
Just posted on Pateon that the show is canceled. It's not out on other media yet, but assume it will be shortly.
