Today, in a restaurant restroom, I heard the song “Forget Domini.” The Sinatra version.
The chorus goes: Let’s forget about tomorrow / For tomorrow never comes.
While the song itself is a trifle, appearing briefly in a 1964 movie called “The Yellow Rolls-Royce” and sung differently there by Connie Francis, it made me think of something to offer exclusively to you - our subscribers - today.
You see, I’ve been doing quite a bit of trying to live in the moment lately, especially this past week or so. The song mainly is about falling in love and trying not to think about what comes tomorrow. But really, the same could be said for anything.
So here’s the deal. Exactly eight years ago today I wrote a short essay, addressed to Little Bean who was two at the time, about the election that year. So 2016. I re-read the essay today and you know what, not much has changed.
That said, we make a concerted effort here to be upbeat and positive so instead of simply posting the essay here, I’ll give you - dear reader - the chance to pass if you’d rather not, if you’re not quite ready for more politics.
Here’s what we’ll do. If you’d like to read the essay, I’ll email you a copy. Just to you. That’s it! In comments below let me know you’d like a copy. Or send me an email saying you’d like a copy and I’ll send it over. That way you can have a look and see what you think at your leisure, without stress and no arguments.
Let’s begin the week with that and see who may be interested. Sound good? Just let me know. Also, has anyone seen that movie? Any good?
Dan, I’d like to read it.
I'd love to read it too Dan. Send it to Mary : blacklab08022@comcast.net
