Some observations after attending an elementary school Halloween dress up parade:
~ The most popular, character specific, costume for little girls continues to be Wednesday Adams, as it was last year. Some are very into the character as well, doing the little dance, not smiling and so forth. Most either carried or had attached to them the hand of Thing. In one case, the hand was bloody. Not sure what that was about, hopefully it wasn’t a real hand.
~ The most popular boys costume was, for reasons unknown, a banana. Like a full on, head to toe, yellow store bought banana. Not a single girl was dressed as a banana, and no other fruits or vegetables were represented as far as I could see. If anyone has any guesses here, please let me know!
~ Superheros were still in vogue, lots of Spidermen, a bunch of Harry Potter. Soooo many Minecraft monsters and creatures. A distinct lack of Pokemon and Disney princesses. I only saw two costumes with the athletic theme, and one of them was a gruesome costume of a baseball seemingly embedded through a young man’s baseball hat and into his head!
~ Speaking of scary, there was a first grader dressed up as the grim reaper. And I don’t mean some store-bought, black robe job. This kid’s mom or dad must be a seamstress, because the black, shredded cloak with the scythe was on point! If I saw this kid in my backyard walking toward me, I’d pretty much be convinced my time was up.
~ My favorite costume was singular in the parade, a plague doctor costume. It looked hand-made as well, with a bedazzled beak and tight button up cloak. Seeing a third grade plague doctor was a treat. Kudos to the parents of that young man. (Or young woman, we couldn’t tell!)
~ As for Little Bean, she had it in her head for weeks to be a elfin woodland fairy and she was very proud of her costume! What do you all think?

Such a cute, little woodland fairy!
I love her costume! Well done!!
