This & That, March
A Little Bit Of A Few Small Things
Today, as we do at the start of every month, a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. We begin the proceedings with….
WHO’S A GOOD BOY? Pip is, that’s who. Occasionally, like today, the picture doesn’t need any words. This week, the scraggly hound got a new haircut AND a new sweater, which he proudly showed off to all who walked by. This is his, yeah, I’m all that, pose.
MIA ASANO THIS WEEK! Our next big show lands us back in one of our favorite venues, Tupelo in Derry, to catch Mia Asano on her first big solo tour! The electric violin master is touring with an all-star band that includes Alicia Vigil, bass player for Vigil of War and Dragonforce!
We’ve already reached out to Mia who said she’d be happy to sign Uma’s old violin. We need to get some questions ready for our meet and greet. Uma is hoping she plays her version of Wellerman.
Billy Wilkins opens and he’s cool too!
10 DAYS FROM THE VOTE. On March 10, our town folk will head to the voting booth to decide whether or not to expend the money to expand our library. The debate rages on social media. And by debate, what I mean is primarily anonymous posters telling us that we should raise the millions needed with bake sales! My very wise trustees have suggested I just relax and try to get some sleep.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to figure out how to make solid gold cupcakes to sell.
YESTERDAY’S STRANGE ESSAY. Yesterday, we posted a story about the background and history of Bob Dylan’s Masters of War. How do I put this diplomatically - it was a very well read and successful post AND - apparently - a divisive story that caused a whole bunch of people to unsubscribe. We did not expect that!
So, I guess we know where certain people stand now, don’t we?
We try to maintain this community as a safe, positive space, a place where you can get a quick, easy morning read in over your coffee. Sometimes… well, the world makes me feel less generous I suppose. You can’t please all the people all the time.
But this does bring up an important aspect of what we’ve been doing here. Our subscriber base has not substantially grown in quite some time. A little. But every so often it may be worth shaking things up a bit. Is daily too much? Should we stick to a topic? Do we go too long?
We’re wondering if you can help us. Maybe reach out to friends. Let them know what we’re trying to do. Share a favorite story. To those who do that often, we see you and appreciate you!
Ultimately, we want to grow our little community. That’s part of the whole point of this. (Well, that and if i don’t write everyday I’ll likely go insane.)
Anyway, talk to friends. Toss us some emails. Let’s grow this space! Sound good? See ya tomorrow morning!

I'm sorry some people chose to unsubscribe because of a post featuring a protest song that couldn't be more relevant to where the country is right now. People are hypersensitized to anything that appears to challenge their own political beliefs. I like the daily post format because it's short, and I can read it while I'm eating my lunch. Do you think it would help attract subscribers to designate certain days for certain subjects?
I'm sorry, too, that some people unsubscribed. I like the short, daily format. Long posts are overwhelming, and I'm likely to move on if I see dense text. I also really like the positive tone of your posts. If you want to add topics to the rotation, maybe thoughts on books you read? Also, when in doubt, I suggest going with a post about animals. Pip, Lavender, a friend's pet, viral animal sensations, whatever. "Fur therapy" is always welcome in my inbox. 😊
