Tonight, Little Bean will get to meet her idols for a second time as we journey down to Bean Town for a VIP Meet and Greet with The Warning and then catch their big show at Big Night Live with another cool band, Holy Wars. It’s going to be crowded, hot, loud and raucous! We can’t wait.
Just over a year ago, we saw the band for the first time in Brighton Music Hall, a tiny, sold out club with about 400 other fans. Check out our video of the meet and greet here: Little Bean Meets The Warning. Today, we’ll also see them in a sold out venue, this time with 2,000 other fans! Next year… arenas? Stadiums? Who knows.
What makes this show and honestly this band different is two-fold - first, it was The Warning that inspired her to take up piano. She asked me if she could take lessons the day after seeing them last year. Now, she’s writing her own songs and is in the second year of lessons. She also wants to learn how to play the flute!
Second, we only knew a couple people at the show last year. This year, we’ll know dozens, some we’ve already met, but most are just members of The Warning Army - fans and friends we’ve interacted with in fan groups and media.
And in two weeks, Little Bean and I will set off for Atlanta, then Chattanooga, then Nashville to follow the band, but also to carve our own musical journey at a guitar museum and at the Grand Ole Opry. This journey - that band - has brought myself and my daughter together in a way nothing else to date has. (Maybe except for rocks!)
Anyway, this is a long way of saying that tomorrow I might be too tired to write anything for you, but I’ll try to at least post a couple pics. Saturday is also the Auburn Day Duck Race and Author’s Alley at my library (10am-3pm) so it’s going to be a jam-packed, sleepless couple days.
In the meantime, please tell us about a life changing concert or show you’ve been to, or a musical act or band that has affected you. We’d love to hear about the impact of music on your life.
And for those members of The Warning Army that I know subscribe here, tell us about your very first time seeing the band and what that was like for you.
We’ll see you on the other side of the weekend, stay kind and rock on!
