This weekend, after a pleasant one mile loop hike that took me past Summit Fire Tower in Allegany State Park, I concluded my visits to all the towers that will be appearing in my forthcoming field guide.
That’s 43 visits around New York State in about 54 weeks. There’s still some writing to be done, and there will be plenty of editing, but the research and hiking is finished!
Phew!
That was a lot of walking and a lot of driving!
Many short little stories on those trips can be found in the archives right here. The rest, I’m told, will be published in Spring 2025.
I just wanted to share an update with you today as we head into the summer. More updates to comes, I promise.
See you in the new week tomorrow with a bit of curious history!
Congrats and thank you for your hard work! I look forward to purchasing a copy of the guide as soon as it's published and maybe hitting a NY tower or two in the future in concert with a hike in the Adirondacks!
