Today, we’re fulfilling a request that was sent to us by many of you, a gallery of Little Bean’s famous Quarantine Art Project, something we called The Corona Sessions.
Back in the dark days of 2020, when I was out of work and my daughter had no school, we were looking for ways to engage with her in projects that were fun and educational. We stumbled upon an idea - art, crafting and dress up. Each week, we learned about a new artist, created some art related to that artist and then, attempted to recreate that artist’s most famous work.
The catch? No photoshop. Or in our case, very little. A small amount of post production went into these sessions to clean up some fuzz or sharpen an image. Primarily, we recreated the clothes, items and makeup on our own from scratch. Backgrounds were then filmed as images against a widescreen TV. It was a lot of work, but Little Bean took it very seriously and we learned a lot.
Anyway, last week I wrote a story about a new Frida-themed restaurant in our city and mentioned the project. Many of you have already seen this in bits and pieces, but we’ve never put them all up on display in a gallery-like post. So, you all asked for it and here it is!
We’re presenting them here in order of creation. Please tell us which is your favorite and give us suggestions for future sessions. And as always, share away, we’d love to see this gallery spread near and far!
