Today, from the category of things we get really excited about at the library that we wouldn’t normally in real life.
This week, a generous patron made a significant donation to our library that left us breathless. It was really special.
Was it a large monetary offering? A flat bed of shiny James Patterson novels? Cookies? Nope, nope and nope.
The staff and I were startled to discover a large box of… wait for it… office supplies!
And not just note pads and file folders either. We’re talking staples, paper clips, Scotch tape and sticky notes. Oh, so so man sticky notes in all different colors! There was so much that we got the patron’s address and will send her a thank you card.
Ultimately, of course, libraries shouldn’t be in a sort of place where receiving a box of supplies is THAT helpful, but here we are. Every penny counts and all that.
And any good librarian will tell you how many sticky notes they go through in any given week! I can’t wait to start using them!
Thanks for sharing this news. I would never have thought of the library as a place that needs office supplies.
The history of Sticky Notes (post-its in particular) is interesting.
