Some thoughts on working and writing on the road:
~ I’m no longer able to visit a new place without wandering into the library. In this case, just look at the Lake Placid Library’s reading room! Goodness. Maybe I can convince the architects planning my library’s expansion to build a pond on the property so we can overlook it.
~ Speaking of not being able to visit something, it appears that I am no longer physically able to just drive by Memorial Stones. I see one and I’m habitually drawn now to figuring out what it’s about. Like this one near Tupper Lake that commemorates the town’s lumber industry roots.
~ And right next to the stone is this guy. I thought it was Paul Bunyon. But nope, just a lumber jack with a big saw!
~ A while has passed since I’ve had to do any very specific work on the road. But this time around, I’ve needed a work station to come back to each night with stats and GPS readings from my hikes and wanderings. I can write anywhere as long as I have coffee, and the hotel is no exception. Strange though how the chair doesn’t fit the desk unless your legs are only three inches thick!
~ I found a Taco Truck called Street Eats in Ray Brook and had to try it. Not bad, but the pork taco had pineapples on it so I don’t know what was happening there? Is that a New York thing? Canadian?
~ Oh and hiking! That’s why I’m here, isn’t it. Check out this lovely trail on the way up to Cathedral Rock Fire Tower in Wanakena. Just the best.
O, I go into every library in every town I visit. Yes! I want the reading room. And pork was meant for pineapple whatever the heritage.
