Question: Why 250 Words?

Over on FB, I posited a question - what do you want me to write 250 words about? Whoa boy, but did people have some great suggestions. Many of them wanted me to write about ice cream for some reason. I think the heat is getting to us. I’ll get to ice cream, I promise.

But for today, a surprising detour into numerology! Who could have predicted? Ready? Let’s go.

Topic: What’s up with 250 words?

When I suggested giving me topics to write 250 words on, one of those suggestions was… 250! So, it got me thinking about why I randomly selected that number, and I think I’ve figured it out.

Basically, I feel like I’ve reached that stage in my life and as a writer where I can randomly, off the top of my head, with little to no research, write 250 words on anything, and write it quickly. Even on my phone, writing 250 words isn’t daunting. And sometimes it even comes out not horrible.

But on a whim, I figured I’d see if 250 meant anything and apparently it’s what numerology calls an Angel Number, or a sign from your guardian angel that something is in store for you.

In the case of 250, it’s a number urging me to pay attention to my intuition. This could be my intuition that numerology is nonsense, but yet here I am writing about it!

My intuition also suggested to me that letting readers select a bunch of topics for Day By Day would be an interesting experiment. And boy that worked out, with nearly 30 suggestions.

The most popular suggestion by the way was Ice Cream and I haven’t yet decided exactly how that’s going to look.

Anyway, I’m reasonably certain that today’s post has amounted to me pulling some words out of thin air in an effort to buy some time and conserve energy.
