Today was a day when not a whole lot worked out. I should rephrase. I’m sitting here in my home surrounded by my family and our pets, warm and dry, with a full belly, so clearly things worked out.
Perhaps more accurately, the day didn’t go as planned.
I had hoped that you’d be reading here about Little Bean’s brand spanking new Memorial Stones Patch Quest patch. She designed it and they finally came in the mail today and they are beautiful. But I didn’t get a pic and she said her hair was a mess and they all went to bed. Just didn’t go as planned.
I had hoped to wash the kitchen floor this evening, but the weather was a wet, sloshy slog and the dog made a mess and I couldn’t get the kitchen alone, and then when they went to bed I didn’t want to disturb them. Just didn’t go as planned.
One of those days when you stand at the kitchen counter just eating slices of cheese because you’re kind of hungry but really don’t even want to expend the energy for a sandwich. One of those days when I left the clothes in the hamper because I knew I could get them into the washing machine but wasn’t certain I’d be awake to get them into the dryer. One of those days when your socks are wet and the mail gets wet and the kid is wet all day. Just didn’t go as planned.
And so dear reader, my misfortune becomes yours today as I recalibrate the next couple days of Day By Day and we’ll come back at you with something more interesting than a essay about things not going as planned.
On the other hand, something went exactly as planned for our dear friend Priscilla Merrill, who just a couple days ago, completed her Memorial Stones Patch Quest by visiting Fox Monument in Lancaster! Don’t worry Priscilla, patches are on their way!
Anyway, that’s a nice way to conclude. Back on track tomorrow. Have you ever had one of those days? Here’s Priscilla having a good day!
As my dear, departed mother said to me once when I asked how she was. Her reply, "I woke up breathing, everything else is a plus:"
I feel sometimes like I have entire weeks like your day yesterday: the house is a mess, I don't get chores done, I should really work on several projects, and it's pasta for dinner... again. Thanks for reminding me that I'm not alone when I feel overwhelmed, or undermotivated. Much love to you and your damp, soggy, beautiful family!
