A note from Dan and Little Bean: We have had some fairly big music-related news and activity all happen at once in the last few days so we want to dedicate today and the next few days to telling you about it. We’ll keep it brief but it’s big! Enjoy!
First up: Freeze the Fall and the Orange Mask
A couple days ago, we got a text from our favorite Canadian teen rock band, Freeze the Fall, that a brand new trailer for an upcoming official music video had dropped and that Little Bean should pay very close attention to the 24 second clip.
It’s a spooky, halloween-related clip and I assume so is the song so there are some screaming, scary elements to it. Take care when watching. (All the band members are fans of horror movies.) The new video and song will drop on Halloween.
Anyway, we queued it up and sat back to watch.
Here’s a link to the clip. When you watch it, do you remember why this would be special to Little Bean? Here it is:
Needless to say, Little Bean immediately jumped up and started yelling, “It’s there, it’s famous!” She ran to show her mother and has been showing her friends as well.
A couple months ago, she built masks for each of the band members based on their favorite animals to commemorate the band’s song, Masquerade. We sent the masks to them and they filmed a little unwrapping video for us! Here’s a still from that!

Well, much to Little Bean’s delight, the orange cat mask made it into the trailer, a decision we’re told was made by the band specifically to plant a fun cookie for Little Bean! Pause at the 14 second mark if you can. We’re told the full length video will have plenty of fun cookies and throw backs.
Listen, every band has to do fan service, that’s just how it works these days. But when that fan service is so directed and authentic, that says a lot about the band. These are good kids. And in return, that sort of attention leads to life-long fans, and provides decent role models for young fans.
Meanwhile, we can’t wait to catch the new video and new song. And we’re looking forward to meeting the band in person sometime soon!
How about you? Did you find Little Bean’s orange cat?
Housekeeping: If you missed it the first time, here’s a link to Little Bean’s long interview with the band. Enjoy!
