As promised, today is the day friends. After our new field guide, More NH Rocks That Rock: Memorial Stones, was released last week, we’ve been putting the final touches on Little Bean’s design for the brand new Patch Quest and Completion Certificate that goes along with the book.
Here it is!
A few notes about the design. She wanted the snowy trees to depict the fact that most of the destination Memorial Stones in the guide are easy to visit at any time of year. She was adamant that the stone be moss covered surrounding the plaque. And of course, if you look closely, that stone suspiciously resembles a sitting kitty from behind. Or is that just me!
For reference, here’s Little Bean’s design for the first Patch Quest that went along with our Famous Boulders field guide
To earn either patch, the rules are fairly simple and outlined on the field guides and also over at our NH Rocks That Rock Facebook page. Stop on by and join our community and start visiting the rocks!
Little Bean has been very forceful throughout this project that these are places anyone can visit, any age or ability. And if anyone has had any trouble reaching a location or two, we’ve offered alternatives. With each location, we give you a bit of history and a short list of things to do in the area.
The idea, ultimately, behind this field guide series is to visit rocks, of course, but also to get out and visit places you may never have been. Maybe get some ice cream along the way. Have an adventure with the family. That’s the important part.
Once you’ve completed your lists, you fill out the paper work, send it in and you’ll also get a completion certificate. Here’s the one we designed for the new guide!
Many thanks to Uncle Bob for helping Little Bean in the digital production of the Patch and to everyone who has encouraged and supported her along the way. We wish you many, rocky visits and hope you learn a little something along the way.
We’ll see you at the rocks!
