Today, as promised, I wanted to simply highlight my co-author and a big part of my inspiration for Day By Day. A couple of pretty fantastic things have happened to Little Bean thanks to the hard work she put in on her interview with the Canadian teen rock band Freeze the Fall that deserve a shout out.
First, on Thursday she became an internationally published writer when a British Columbia-based newspaper outfit printed a version of her story in the Kelowna Capital News. You can read and see that story here: Young American music lover interviews Kelowna teen rock band
We’re guessing there will be others, but this was the first in Canada!
The second bit of fabulous news is that our hometown newspaper ran Little Bean’s story and then awarded her a Inkubator Award, which is a fund and program set up to encourage and reward young journalists. The paper asked if Little Bean would like to continue and do a regular music column of some sort and that’s obviously something we’ll be discussing with them.

Here’s the interview and how it appears in Manchester Ink Link: How This Interview Came About
As she gets older and gains more individual self-awareness and capacity toward her own privacy and personhood, the more I want her to be involved and part of both Day By Day and of the parenting column I write. She needs to have a say over what I write about us, as she should. In the case of a project like this, well, I’m just happy to be her editor. Like all the phases we’ve gone through, if I’m able to help facilitate her interests, then you never really know how that will translate into her real life as she gets older and as she begins plotting out her own course. Right now, music appears to be the theme and I’m pleased to help her along.
So I’ll leave this here for today - extremely proud of this kid, a little bit intimidated by how intense she can be, and looking forward to whatever other projects come our way.
And thank you all for reading her work and being encouraging, that means a lot! On we go!
Congratulations to Little Bean and her Dad!
I love this! And I will be happy to read her work, along with yours.
