Today, a preview of an upcoming project that begins on Dec. 16 and extends into June 2025.
Interviews By Uma will be a feature both here at our newsletter where subscribers will get a first read of the monthly feature, but also at Manchester Ink Link and other select media around the country.
The concept of Little Bean writing a series of interviews with artists came out of her first big interview with the Canadian teen rock band Freeze the Fall last summer. You can read that here: Interview with Freeze the Fall. That interview was published in a half dozen news media both here and in Canada and became one of the most popular stories published at Day By Day.
She’d been wanting to do more and so we’ve been working with Ink Link and with a select group of artists to create a more regular schedule for the series. And now we have it!
Here’s our upcoming schedule for Interviews By Uma:
December 16: Ashley Suppa, singer, songwriter, producer and bass player for Plush
January 13: Kat Leon, lead singer and songwriter for Holy Wars
February 17: James Seaman, NY-based large form metal and wood sculptor
March 17: Major Moment, Boston-based power pop/metal band
April 14: Sorrowfuse, Maine-based five-piece power rock band
May 19: Cassie Pepler, owner of Grand 88 Music Studio, elementary school music teacher and Little Bean’s piano teacher
June 16: Scott Dana Gordon-Macey: Vermont-based musician, lyricist and song-writer.
That’s the general outline! Subjects may change as dates get closer, but the drop dates won’t change so mark your calendars!
Our process should remain the same for this project. Little Bean selects a band or artist she likes and then sits down with me and begins to draw up a series of questions for them based on seeing or listening to their art, watching videos, reading about them, etc. I’ll format that into a written interview for the artist. When the answers come back, Little Bean goes over the interview to see if there’s any follow up or additional questions she might have. Then I’ll write a brief introduction, and the piece is done!
We try to time each drop with something special happening from the artist, like new music, an event or upcoming release.
We hope you enjoy these little side trips, and let us know if you have any recommendations, or even interest in being Interviewed By Uma! Finally, please pass the word and share. We’d love to bring some more attention to Little Bean and her work. Thanks for reading, see ya tomorrow!
