Me: Hey Little Bean, we got some new patch quest and completion certificates in the mail to sign, do you have a few minutes to draw some pictures for folks who completed the NH Rocks Quest.
Her: Yes! I can draw whatever I want, right?
Me: Of course!
Her: Good because I have some ideas.
Me: Ok, well, maybe a landscape or some rocks or a hiker or something.
Her: I have ideas, Daddy!
Me: Cool, cool, let’s just try to keep it within -
Happy Squished Plankton Tuesday everyone. I learned afterward that this is, apparently, a Sponge Bob character which makes her “idea” somewhat more logical, but she does enjoy these writing spurts where she gets to send complete strangers the wildest most nonsensical drawings.
So be forewarned if you’re a complete stranger who has just spent weeks or months finishing your NH Rocks Quest and are eagerly waiting for your patches and certificate to arrive that you may also get a drawing of Squished Plankton in your envelope.
The Housekeeping Part: The weather’s been great lately as we inch closer to summer and there are some great things happening ahead. First, those three of you who emailed us about the Advance Reader Copy of “The Adventures of Buffalo and Touch Cookie” will be getting their copy soon.
Then, I hope by next week to be in the position of making a major announcement on an upcming book. You’ll all hear that first here! Meantime, work continues on the above-mentioned Volume 2 of our NH Rocks Field Guide series. You can read more about that and pre-buy at this link: NH Rocks That Rock Memorial Stones
And finally, I hope you’ll all join me for a very special event at Littleton Opera House on Wednesday, May 24 here we’ll talk about Mount Washington and the art of travel writing. I’m honored to be sponsored by NH Humanities for this program.
Registration is required. Here’s a link to that event: Stories of Place
Until then, stay focused and on we go!
