Book Fair Days Redux
Something Happened That's Worth Telling
After our story received so much attention, comments and engagement yesterday, something new happened that I thought was worth mentioning.
If you’ll recall, Little Bean spent a big chunk of her Scholastic Book Fair money on helping two other friends buy books because they didn’t have any money.

In the story, I was concerned hat maybe she got ripped off, or taken advantage of. But then something happened.
At school today, one of those friends not only returned her money to her (repaid the loan) but gave her an extra dollar as a way to say thanks. There’s a lot happening here, of course. In some ways I think of this as two sets of parents communicating with each other without even knowing each other.
Here’s another young lady, raised right, returning an act of kindness. (Also, Little Bean gets to learn about interest on a loan, yay, economics!)
The return gesture made me feel that her friend really could have needed Little Bean’s gesture but also that my daughter knew this, and handled the situation on her own, properly, with kindness.
Win win on this one folks, thank you all for your kind wishes as well!
Raising empathetic children is certainly our goal and you are certainly doing that with Uma.
This may sound corny, but these stories made me teary eyed, in a good way.
