Today, time.
As I did last year - and for the previous ten years - I present for your consideration a meditation on time.
A few years ago, thanks to Facebook memories, it occurred to us that by coincidence, we took a photo of Little Bean every year on April 21st since she was born. So, we decided to actively keep up the tradition. This year was no different!
That means that we have a photo of her now on all of the April twenty-firsts that we’ve lived through, eleven in all.
Since the ‘every day’ is a major theme of what we do in this community - some might say the most important theme - each year on this date, if feels appropriate to take a small moment, inhale deeply, and be grateful that we’ve come this far.
A chance to look back. A chance to look ahead. A moment to consider our place in the slip-stream of the everyday. The date feels right as well. Springtime renewal, warmer days. Right around the time when I first learned Little Bean was on her way.
Don’t forget, we don’t actually lose time, or gain it. It’s all right there, all the time. Right now. Be aware of it, and you have it all. Being in the moment means being where you came from and being where you’re going as well.
And we love the fact that you’re all on this journey with us. Let’s keep going!
Housekeeping: Good morning everyone! It’s been a while since we tossed out some links in a little housekeeping segment, but we received a handful of donations to Day By Day recently so I figured I’d take a moment to say thank you! Thank you for being here with us. I know we don’t have a theme here and that can throw readers off sometimes, but your support keeps us going. We’re only 7 subscribers away from starting to publish our fire tower memoir weekly!
For the record, here’s a link if you’re considering donations: Donate to Day By Day

I do love this tradition! I have my son's school pictures from pre-school to HS graduation, but I love that these are candid, real-life photos. It will be an amazing memento, and I hope she continues it throughout her life!
