Today, a follow up from a post of a couple weeks ago. As you may recall, I wrote about a former professor of mine who I had worked for, Craig Werner. He had passed away in early March, but it appeared he had left me one last gift before heading off to the great beyond.
That gift was returning a book I had given him years ago, via the help of a lovely reader and friend of Day By Day, Jim Viar.
You can read that story here: One Last Message
Well, this morning that book returned to my care where it will be added to my collection as a cherished memento of my one time mentor.
But more crucial than that, I finally got to meet Jim, who has been a long-time digital friend but we’d never had the opportunity to meet in person, even though we don’t live that far from each other. He brought the book over to the library, I gave him a tour and we chatted as two dads do about our kids and music and books and fishing.
Jim can tell you everything you need to know about Led Zeppelin! And to no one’s surprise, Jim son, John, was a drummer for the grunge/rock band Wicked Automatic. Jim gave me a copy of their CD! When I give it a listen, I’ll be sure to write about it.
This visit leads me to believe that all of you should visit me at my library. Public building. I’m always there. Coffee machine. Comfortable patio. What’s not to enjoy?
I’ll bend your ear like I did Jim’s and give you a tour. “Look at those original tin ceilings!”
Yeah, I’d like that. We’re happy that you’re all here. Now, let’s meet in the flesh! And remember, we are now a mere 8 subscribers away from beginning to publisher our long lost fire tower hike memoir! Can ya help us get there?
Thank you for your hospitality, much appreciated Dan!
Dan’s FanFam! It’s wonderful how many connections have been made far and wide over the years through your books and writings, not to mention Rocks!
