A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: The other day, we received a call from DJ Marianne, up there in Portland at WMPG, the Southern Maine Community Radio Station at 90.9.
Marianne, who is an old friend of the family, rocks out with a radio show called Rock Lobstah and she wanted to know if Little bean would be interested in sitting in as a DJ this spring! Well, what do you think Uma’s response was?
She’s already putting together her set list!
We’ll go up sometime in March and get a tour of the station and learn what they do there, and then Little Bean can put together what looks like it will be a one hour set list. We’re not sure if there’s going to be a theme or not, but Marianne already mentioned ‘Women Who Rock’ as a possibility. I think you all know very well what bands might make that list for Little Bean.
Anyway, an amazing opportunity for the kid and we can’t wait to dig in. We’ll have more on that as we get closer.
SOME RELIEF: Well, I survived my first regular season as a sport dad. Or is it sports dad? Or basketball dad? I don’t know what the proper terminology is.
All I know is that I did it. And she did it. Phew. Little Bean’s team ended the season 1-7 after a not-so-crushing defeat at the hands of the best team in the league for their final game. I say not-so-crushing because they played pretty well considering the fact that the team they were playing appeared to be made of a group of giants.
They all handled it well. And the way the league works, the bottom 8 teams make the first round of play-offs so they’ll go at it one more time next weekend.
This has certainly been an interesting experiment watching her grow and test her physical limits. And testing my own coping skills. I get it. I get why parents become so emotional. Still, I’m looking forward to the most competitive thing she does is try to out-read her fellow class-mates.
A PREVIEW: We have to mention that tomorrow, at 10 am, the next installment of Interviews By Uma will drop. We can’t wait for you to dig into the interesting and inspirational interview with Kat Leon of the band Holy Wars.
And don’t forget, special to subscribers only, if you want a few extra pictures and behind the scenes images of the concert we went to where we met Kat and the band, then all you have to do is send an email to interviewswithuma@gmail.com and let us know.
As always, we hope you’ll like and comment and especially share the story tomorrow to make it one of our most read!
Stay tuned, this is going to be a great week!
Enjoy all the years of her sports, it goes by so fast! I'm now watching my grandson play hoop in high school. It's like deja vu with his dad...without the anxiety!
